At the Brain Health Clinic, we put emphasis on the use of biomarkers from serum and other biological fluids to advance the accurate diagnosis and treatment of various neurodegenerative diseases. Key biomarkers include α/β amyloid and tau proteins in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood for Alzheimer's disease, neurofilament light chain protein (NFL) in blood and CSF for various neurodegenerative diseases, alpha-synuclein in CSF and blood for the disease of Parkinson's and TDP-43 in CSF for ALS and frontotemporal dementia.
There are of course many other biological biomarkers that are currently used to diagnose and monitor the treatment of various diseases. By utilizing these biomarkers, we aim to provide accurate diagnoses and personalized treatments for patients with neurodegenerative and other brain health conditions.
